SELECTING THE RIGHT EXHAUST FAN FOR YOUR NEEDS

  • Ventilation essentially means replacing stale, hot air with fresh air and the size and number of exhaust fans required for a particular application is directly dependent upon location and the number of air changes required per hour. Thus, to determine correct size and number of fans, the following factors need consideration:Size of room.
  • Number of occupants and their activities.
  • Heat gain from solar radiation, machinery, etc.
  • Relative humidity and outside air temperature.

RECOMMENDED AIR CHANGES

There are no rigid rules and recommendations regarding the number of air changes required for adequate ventilation; every building has it own characteristics and much depends on prevailing conditions.

HOW TO ESTIMATE REQUIRED VENTILATION

To estimate the ventilation required for a given area calculate the total interior space in cubic meters (length x width x height) multiply the figure you get by the particular number of air changes from the table above. Check this figure with the air delivery of the particular size of the fans & select the size and the number of fans needed.
